Allowing employees to work remotely could help businesses cut energy bills by £3bn

Businesses allowing employees to work remotely from the comfort of their own homes could actually cut 3 million tonnes of carbon emissions and save £3 billion in energy bills, the Carbon Trust has recently argued.

The widespread use of Internet-enabled collaborative tools, smartphones and the “cloud” (for storing digital documents remotely) could allow employees to significantly change their working patterns, a news source on the matter has revealed.

Hugh Jones, Managing Director of Advisory at the Carbon Trust said: “Homeworking is on the rise, with numbers increasing by over half a million since 2007… in the right circumstances, it has the potential to be expanded significantly and be a win-win for business and the environment.”

Although this initiative is truly a commendable one, the truth of the matter is that advanced BEMS (Building Energy Management System) solutions represent one of the top energy efficiency measures organizations of any scope and size can turn to, given the fact that they enable a superior level of control over the heating system and its extensive optimization, thus leading to lower overall consumption levels.

And this is exactly where the HeatingSave system might prove its worth, since our solution allows customers to achieve immediately savings of up to 30%+ on their energy bills. This is achieved by optimizing the energy consumption levels within any building with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if its warm and off earlier if its cold.

It also automatically adjusts your boiler depending on how warm it is outside – save up to another 10%.

Furthermore, the system also offers an advanced automatic occupancy detection system that allows the temperature to reduce to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
