Customers protest over British Gas price freezes

After announcing higher profits a few days ago, on account of the spike in energy usage caused by the longer winter, British Gas’s owner, Centrica, also revealed plans to actually use the extra funds in order to freeze gas prices for as long as possible.

However, not even such a consumer-friendly decision was good enough for disgruntled customers, who continue to protest over the company’s business decisions.

In fact, at Centrica’s annual meeting in London, protesters (many of which are pensioners) branded bosses as “profiteers”. Many of the protesters are extremely unhappy with the ever-increasing fuel bills, which have hit them particularly hard over the past winter.

Additionally, many consumer action groups and representatives for price comparison websites also expressed their concerns regarding the bills most British Gas customers will face on the future, as well as their overall effect on households’ available income.
