517,000 households improve their energy efficiency with help from Green Deal and ECO

Over half a million British home owners have installed various energy saving measures with help from the Government via the Green Deal or Energy Company Obligation (ECO) since the schemes started last year, a recent statement released by the DECC (Department of Energy & Climate Change) has revealed.

The Government’s Household Tracker survey spoke to 3,000 households to gather information about awareness of Green Deal, attitudes towards energy efficiency, as well as confidence and trust in the Green Deal and the supply chain.

Figures obtained from this survey have revealed that, up to the end of February this year,163,000 Green Deal assessments have taken place and a total of 517,000 households had work done up to the end of January.

The research also points out that of those that have installed energy efficiency measures after having a Green Deal assessment, an impressive 88 per cent were satisfied with the quality of the work and 91 per cent were happy with the professionalism of the installer.

Furthermore, 86 per cent were satisfied with the quality of the measure installed and 89 per cent would recommend having the measure installed to friends and family.

The research also showed that recognition of the Green Deal quality mark amongst those surveyed has risen and is now at its highest level since it was launched – up from 12 per cent in November 2012 to 20 per cent in November 2013.

Building Energy Management Systems are capable of delivering extensive monitoring and control options, compared to basic controls. They typically employ data from a variety of sources (boiler flow and return sensors, internal and external temperature sensors, occupancy sensors, humidity sensors, etc.), and enable the perfect optimization of a building’s boiler-based central heating system.

HeatingSave is also approved to work and save fuel within the Energy Technology List, which is managed by the Carbon Trust on behalf of the Government. It is also approved by the Department of Energy & Climate Change and the Energy Savings Trust and was specified by the Building Research Establishment for the energy efficient homes retro-fit program, called The Greenhouse Project.

Last, but certainly not least, it’s important to mention that HeatingSave is a component part of the Government’s Green Deal program.
