Centrica, the parent company of the much more famous British Gas, one of the UK’s energy suppliers, is apparently eyeing a shale gas – related partnership with Cuadrilla Resources, the first company to have drilled for shale gas in the UK.

According to a news report on the matter, rumour has it that Centrica is in talks with Cuadrilla over its Bowland Shale licences, which, according to the latter’s estimates, might account for an impressive 200trillion cubic feet of gas.

Naturally, both companies have refrained from commenting on the matter, given the sensitive nature of such information.
