European Commission launches new building energy efficiency scheme

The European Commission has recently launched a new scheme to make buildings in the EU more energy efficient, a recent news report in the local media has been able to reveal.

The international consortium led by Motorola Solutions will work together to create new ways for building owners, facility managers and energy service companies (ESCOs) to operate their sites more effectively.

That will include tools to provide better visibility on how energy-related decisions impact management, cost and environmental health.

The Tools for Continuous Building Performance Auditing (TOPA) are analytic gadgets and methodologies which use a cloud-based platform for continuous energy performance auditing. They will also take into account how buildings are used and the state of their environment and air quality.

The project is expected to enable savings of up to 20% through energy efficiency programmes. The goal of is to improve understanding and reduce the existing gap between predicted and actual energy performances in buildings to 10%.
