The government’s energy efficiency policies for commercial properties to go under review
The only way in which the Government can stick to its legal commitments of an 80% carbon reduction by 2050 is to make sure that the policies it has put in place attain their project efficiency levels.
And in order to assess whether such schemes as the Carbon Reduction Commitment, Energy Performance Certificates and the Green Deal have the desired effect on the property sector, the Government-led Green Construction Board has joined forces with the Green Property Alliance, a group of the UK’s leading property industry organisations, to commission Deloitte to carry out the study.
According to a news report on the matter, Bill Hughes, managing director of Legal & General Property and chairman of The Green Property Alliance, said: “There is a growing interest in the management of regulatory and financial risk for property arising from climate change, with a belief that its relationship to the financial performance of real estate may emerge in the near future. It is in the industry and Government’s interests to ensure that laws and taxes designed to elicit energy and carbon efficient behaviours are achieving their objectives, not to mention those of the wider economy. In taking a broad view of the framework for carbon incentives and penalties, this project may also illuminate opportunities to influence energy efficient behaviour that we had not previously discerned.”
Achieving energy savings within the non-domestic sector can be easily achieved by implementing advanced advanced BEMS (Building Energy Management System) solutions, and this is exactly where the HeatingSave system might prove its worth, since our solution allows customers to achieve immediately savings of up to 30%+ on their energy bills.
This is achieved by optimizing the energy consumption levels within any building with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if its warm and off earlier if its cold.
It also automatically adjusts your boiler depending on how warm it is outside – save up to another 10%.
Furthermore, the system also offers an advanced automatic occupancy detection system that allows the temperature to reduce to a background when areas are not used and quickly brought up to temperature when they are being used.
