HeatingSave Building Energy Management System can help cut carbon emissions

The HeatingSave Building Energy Management System is the perfect solution for cutting energy bills and reducing carbon emissions for any type of boiler, including here oil-fired boilers.

This type of boiler generates significant emissions, so high that OFTEC, the Oil Firing Technical Association, argues that cash incentives to replace oil-fired boilers in homes would be five times more effective in reducing carbon emissions than the Renewable Heat Incentive.

The figures compare £5000 in RHI payments to incentivise the installation of an air-source heat pump (the cheapest technology under the RHI) with the same funding for boiler replacements.

The £5000 would cover RHI payments for an average 3-bedroom semi-detached property based on a 7-year payback. The upfront cost to the home owner would be around £7000, and average annual heating bill would increase by £564 to £1453. Carbon emissions would be reduced by 3.49 t a year.

The same £5000 funding could help 12 households upgrade old boilers via a £400 cashback boiler replacement programme. The upfront cost to each homeowner would be about £1600 — a new boiler costs about £2000. The average annual heating bill would fall by £158 to £731, based on the current average price of heating oil.

HeatingSave – the perfect system for optimizing oil-fired boilers

Installing a smart energy optimization system is likely to help even more when it comes to consumption and cost cutting, and this is specifically where HeatingSave could put its extensive experience to very good use.

The computer powered HeatingSave system calculates the amount of fuel used each day to prove to you the saving it can make over your existing heating control system.

HeatingSave goes one stage further than a ‘Smart Metering’ system as it controls the energy usage instead of just reporting it. For those using heating oil it estimates the litres of fuel used each day and predicts how much oil is left in the tank.

The HeatingSave Building Energy Management System helps customers save more than 30% on their bills by optimizing any heating system’s overall functionality. This is done by taking into account a variety of factors, such as internal and external temperatures, occupancy, time of the year, the particular characteristics of installed boilers, etc. All of the data is used in order to determine the best heating patterns for the various heating zones within any building, using our proprietary heat-loss algorithm.

The end result is that users still get a very good level of comfort, while in the same time saving energy and money in the process.
