New Scheme Launched to Insulate Britain

A new scheme has been launched in collaboration with businesses and the government to increase insulation in British Homes. The “Insulate Today” plan is part of the “we will if you will” campaign and is being backed by the Energy Saving Trust along with Accenture, Aviva, HSBC, Sainsbury“s ACT ON CO2 and EDF Energy.

The scheme will include:

Last year British households wasted around £500 million in energy bills insulation, yet, most homes can save around £160 every year by getting their loft and cavity walls properly insulated, reducing their carbon footprint in the process.

This latest campaign hopes to tackle this by improving access to insulation and cutting the costs. The results are intended to improve on the current level of insulation in the UK, which sits at around one in ten homes.

Director of the campaign David Hall commented: “Mobilising consumers to insulate their homes is a great opportunity to cut the nation”s carbon footprint and cut our energy bills at the same time but it requires an innovative and creative delivery model.”

He added: “The collaborative approach of “we will if you will” brings together a coalition of some of the UK”s biggest employers, helping us to target a massive audience through established and trusted channels of communication.”
