World economies have become more energy efficient despite low energy prices

The world’s biggest economies have managed to reduce their overall energy consumption despite the lower oil and natural gas prices, a recent report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) has been able to suggest.

The paper found that the level of energy intensity, which measures the amount of fuel consumed per unit of gross domestic product, fell 1.8% last year, which is triple the average rate over the past decade and more than the 1.5% reduction in 2014.

Investment in energy efficiency measures totalled $221 billion (£179bn) last year – around 66% more than was spent on conventional power generation.

Dr Fatih Birol, the IEA Executive Director said: “Energy efficiency is the one energy resource that all countries possess in abundance. I welcome the improvement in global energy efficiency, particularly at a time of lower energy prices. This is a sign that many governments push the energy efficiency policies and it works.

“The large emerging economies are moving to centre stage in the clean energy transition and the fight against air pollution, driven by energy efficiency and renewables.”

HeatingSave Building Energy Management System – the perfect solution to enable significant energy savings

Achieving energy savings within the non-domestic sector can be easily achieved by implementing advanced advanced BEMS (Building Energy Management System) solutions, and this is exactly where the HeatingSave system might prove its worth, since our solution allows customers to achieve immediately savings of up to 30%+ on their energy bills.

This is achieved by optimizing the energy consumption levels within any building with the help of an advanced heat-loss algorithm that creates a specific profile for any building and based on that, switches heating on later if its warm and off earlier if its cold.

It also automatically adjusts your boiler depending on how warm it is outside – save up to another 10%.
